  1. Dear Yimu,

I hope this email finds you well. I came across your blog on “Introduction to Optimization on Manifolds/Lie-groups” and found it very informative and helpful in my studies.

I am currently a math master’s student with interest in Manifold Optimization and its applications in computer vision, specifically in shape matching. As I was exploring potential thesis topics, I came across the absolute orientation problem and initially thought it could be represented as a manifold optimization problem. However, after reading your blog, I realized that it is just a one-step optimization problem and cannot be the subject of my thesis. Your blog saved me a lot of time and effort, and I wanted to express my gratitude for your contribution to the field.

Additionally, I noticed that we are both SCU alumni. I earned my bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 2021 and am currently pursuing my master’s degree in Germany. I would be delighted to have the opportunity to connect with you further and discuss manifold optimization and related topics.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Best regards,

    Zhuang Kang
